WOMEN’S WEEKEND 2012

Please join us as we study:

“What shapes our
actions is our
spirituality”

January 6-8, 2012

Solomon Episcopal Conference Center
Robert, Louisiana

The Addictions Recovery Ministries will host our annual Women’s Weekend     January 6–January 8, 2012 at the Solomon Episcopal Conference Center. Our theme for the weekend is “What shapes our actions is our spirituality”.

Our facilitator for the weekend is Sr. Helen Schmidt.  Sr. Helen has been a member of the Congregation of the Infant Jesus for 54 years and has been involved in recovery retreat work since 1984.  Sr. Helen is a retired RN with a BA in Physical Therapy and an MA in Motor Learning.  In addition, she has an MA in Theology plus certificates in spiritual direction and addictions counseling.  Underlying the theme of this retreat is Sr. Helen’s interest in the mind/body/spirit connection which has grown from her work with neurologically involved children and adults, addiction counseling and her dedication to spiritual development through recovery and her commitment to live a Christian life.

During our time together, we will have an opportunity to share Morning Prayer, Holy Eucharist, a Taize Service, 12-step meetings, Reconciliation, Spiritual Direction, and a Dream Workshop.  This weekend is a great opportunity for relaxing, reflecting, renewing, and visiting.  It is a wonderful gift to ask for or to give yourself.

The weekend begins with supper at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 6 and ends following a 12-Step Morning Prayer Service on Sunday, January 8, (about noon).

You may check in on Friday, January 6 after 4:00 PM. However, participants may arrive at the Conference Center as early as
1:00 PM, Friday. On Friday night we will gather in the chapel at 7:30 p.m. to start the retreat with a celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

The cost of the weekend is $152 per person and includes a room for two nights, Friday night supper, three full meals on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. Sunday lunch is not provided. Check out time on Sunday is 10:00 am. A $75 non-refundable deposit is required and should be sent along with the attached registration form no later than December 27, 2011.

All rooms at the Conference Center are double occupancy. Single rooms may be requested but are not guaranteed. The cost of a single room for the weekend is an additional $46, or a total of $198. Single rooms will not be assigned until after the final registrations are received and the weekend census is known. Single rooms will be assigned on a “first come, first request” basis and no one will be turned away in order to accommodate those who desire a single room.

Please let us know if you have any special dietary needs. Handicap accessible rooms are available.

The Addictions Recovery Ministry (ARM) of the Episcopal Church helps recovering Christians to find a home within the Church. ARM seeks to provide education, guidance and support for families struggling with, or wishing to learn more about addictions. Our desire is not to be dogmatic or exclude anyone in their spiritual search, but to live out the acceptance and love taught by Jesus.
