DROP THE ROCK:
REMOVING CHARACTER DEFECTS, STEPS SIX AND SEVEN

JANUARY 8 – 10, 2010

Solomon Episcopal Conference Center
Robert, Louisiana

The Addictions Recovery Ministries will host our annual Women’s Weekend January 8 – January 10, 2010 at the Solomon Episcopal Conference Center.

Our theme will be based on the book, Drop The Rock: Removing Character Defects, Steps Six and Seven  by Bill P,  Todd W, and Sarah S.

"The action of the sixth and seventh steps culminates in dropping the rock- all the stubborn  grasping, stupid holding onto old patterns of behavior , thinking, and feeling that are harmful to our progress in recovery".

Join us for reflection and lively discussion as we retreat together at Solomon Center.

Sophie Hudson, our facilitator for the weekend, has been on the path of recovery since 2001 and has been a loyal attendee of the Women’s Weekend for many years. A lifelong Episcopalian, Sophie has been an active member of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church since 2002. Sophie has shared her experience, strength, and hope through service work and working with sponsees and we look forward to her sharing the same with us.

The holidays can be exhausting, particularly for women.  This weekend is a great opportunity to relax, rest, visit, and nurture yourself.  It is a wonderful gift to ask for or give yourself.

The weekend begins with supper at 6:30 PM on Friday, January 8, 2010 and ends after the Eucharist on Sunday, January 10, about noon.

You may check in on Friday, January 8 after 4:00 PM. However, participants may arrive at the Conference Center as early as
1:00 PM, Friday, January 8, 2009.

The cost of the weekend is $152 per person and includes a room for two nights, Friday night supper, three full meals on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. Sunday lunch is not provided. Check out time on Sunday is 10:00 am. A $75 non-refundable deposit is required and should be sent along with the attached registration form no later than December 28, 2009.

All rooms at the Conference Center are double occupancy. Single rooms may be requested but are not guaranteed. The cost of a single room for the weekend is $198. Single rooms will not be assigned until after the final registrations are received and the weekend census is known. Single rooms will be assigned on a “first come, first request” basis and no one will be turned away in order to accommodate those who desire a single room.

Please let us know if you have any special dietary needs. Handicap accessible rooms are available.

The Brother James Mark Eddy and The Rev. Daryl Canfill Memorial Scholarship Fund can help defray up to 50 percent of the cost of a double occupancy room.

The Addictions Recovery Ministry (ARM) of the Episcopal Church helps recovering Christians to find a home within the Church. ARM seeks to provide education, guidance and support for families struggling with, or wishing to learn more about addictions. Our desire is not to be dogmatic or exclude anyone in their spiritual search, but to live out the acceptance and love taught by Jesus.
