LIFE OF THE BELOVED

by Henri Nouwen

“YOU ARE MY BELOVED, ON YOU

MY FAVOR RESTS”

JANUARY 9 – 11, 2009

Solomon Episcopal Conference Center
Robert, Louisiana

The Addictions Recovery Ministries will host our annual Women’s Weekend     January 9 –January 11 2009 at the Solomon Episcopal Conference Center. Our theme will be based on the book, Life of the Beloved , by Henri Nouwen.  “You are my Beloved on you my favor rests.” It certainly is not easy to hear that voice in a world filled with voices that shout: “You are no good, you are ugly, you are worthless, you are nobody.” Many of us keep running around in large or small circles, always looking for someone or something able to convince us of our Belovedness.  Why is this so?  Join us for reflection and lively discussion as we retreat together at Solomon Center.

Linda Nelson, our facilitator for the weekend, serves as a skilled consultant trainer/workshop with thirty-two years of proven ability to train, teach inspire, challenge and lead groups. Linda also serves as spiritual director to both ordained and laypeople of seven mainline denominations.

The holidays can be exhausting, particularly for women.  This weekend is a great opportunity to relax, rest, visit, and nurture yourself.  It is a wonderful gift to ask for or give yourself.

The weekend begins with supper at 6:30 PM on Friday, January 9, 2009.and ends after the Eucharist on Sunday, January 13, about noon.

You may check in on Friday, January 9 after 4:00 PM. However, participants may arrive at the Conference Center as early as
1:00 PM, Friday, January 9, 2009.

The cost of the weekend is $191 per person and includes a room for two nights, Friday night supper, three full meals on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. Sunday lunch is not provided. Check out time on Sunday is 10:00 am. A $75 non-refundable deposit is required and should be sent along with the attached registration form no later than December 28, 2008.

All rooms at the Conference Center are double occupancy. Single rooms may be requested but are not guaranteed. The cost of a single room for the weekend is an additional $44, or a total of $235. Single rooms will not be assigned until after the final registrations are received and the weekend census is known. Single rooms will be assigned on a “first come, first request” basis and no one will be turned away in order to accommodate those who desire a single room.

Please let us know if you have any special dietary needs. Handicap accessible rooms are available.

ARM seeks to provide education, guidance and support for families struggling with, or wishing to learn more about addictions. Our desire is not to be dogmatic or exclude anyone in their spiritual search, but to live out the acceptance and love taught by Jesus.
