In February 2001 forty-four men were moved by the honesty and simplicity of Brother Danna's story and his message.
The small groups mixed personalities from many walks of life into a brew of compassion and understanding of the human condition.
Saturday night was "guys night out" with fights by satellite and, paradoxically, an ice cream social.
Sunday's celebration of Holy Eucharist incorporating the Twelve-Steps was a bonding and tearful climax for the weekend.
Come join us this year for a similar experience. Activities begin Friday evening with snacks and introductions.
Saturday will be a learning and sharing experience with meditations from Fr. Gerry & Br. Danna interspersed with small group study
A twelve-step meeting around a campfire will end the day.
Sunday will begin with a summary of our experience and end with a celebration of Holy Eucharist incorporating the Twelve-Steps.
WHEN: Activities begin Friday evening, Feb. 8, 2002 about 6:00pm and end with the Eucharist on Sunday morning, Feb. 10, 2002
WHERE: Ave Maria Retreat House, Crown Point, LA. This is a beautiful retreat facility operated by the Roman Catholic Diocese of New Orleans located on the intracoastal waterway near Lafitte.
HOW MUCH: Cost for the weekend is $80.00 for a shared room and $95.00 for a single room. Partial scholarships are available.
Singles are recommended since the bedrooms are 'monastic' in size.
Costs include snacks on Friday night, three meals and refreshments on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday.
To make your monastic adventure complete, please bring your own linens, towels and soap.
